When to apply to Italy
Apply to Italy if it is your main destination (where you spend the longest time), or if stays are equal and Italy is your first point of entry.

A visa application centre service fee is added and varies.
Documents checklist
- Passport issued within 10 years, valid 3+ months after leaving Schengen, with 2 blank pages.
- Signed application form and recent photo.
- Travel medical insurance (min. €30,000) covering emergency care, hospitalisation and repatriation.
- Return flight reservation and hotel booking or invitation letter.
- Recent bank statement and salary certificate / proof of employment.
- Residents of Kuwait: Civil ID and valid residence permit.
Kuwaiti citizens
Since 8 September 2023, eligible Kuwaiti nationals — including first-time applicants — can receive a 5-year multiple-entry Schengen visa. Full visa-free travel is not yet in force.
At the border: EES
Since 10 April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System records your face and fingerprints at Schengen borders instead of passport stamps.
